ParticipantI have just unpacked the ISE d/w and familiarized myself with the controls. It’s very nice indeed….almost very Bosch……
The manual insists the salt adjustment is done at first usage: it also says to test the water with a test stick and set the computer to suit.
I cannot find a test stick in the machine. Is one supplied? I want to set the salt level before I deliver it at the weekend rather than faffing about in front of the customer. If there’s no test strip, any idea what the setting should be for Bournemouth Water or Wessex Water? Does the hardness setting come up at first switch on, ie:- is it a compulsory setting before you can use the machine?
Or is it all irrelevant if I tell her to use tablets?
And….if you use tablets like Fairy Active Burst do you still need to press the ‘3 in 1’ button each time? Thanks,

Tut, tut, another one not paying attention in class! :lesson: ๐
The manual needs rewritten by yours truly, it’s pretty grim after the errors are pointed out but, as usual, I was under pressure to get it in play too quickly to fully review it. It’s always the way and all I can do is apologise for that.
Water hardness test sticks you can get from a local fishing tackle shop, apparently I’m told and they’re desperately cheap. As an aside using said things make you look ridiculously professional even if you haven’t a clue really. ๐
IIRC they’re about a fiver for 100 or so.
There isn’t one supplied with the machine.
You can also get local water hardness from the water board for the area, an exact pH if you like should you call them and ask.
So far as I am aware, no, it doesn’t stop the operation of the machine but it does help with the automatic programs.
Tablets, hard pressed ones at least, get thee hence Satan! ๐
The tabs option simply extends the program so as to allow the damn things to dissolve a bit better and, pretty much, that’s about it.
With Fairy Active or Simply powder tablets (powder in a bag) you don’t need the option and it runs as it would with just powder.
In either case, pressed tabs or powder in a bag ones, you will need salt in very hard water areas which I think you may be in and it is highly recommended that for the best results that rinse aid is used with non-hard pressed tabs.
As usual, powder/rinse aid/salt works the best whether the powder is in a bag or not and this combination will always deliver the best results for the customer IMO, far, far better than hard pressed tabs ever could. Or those stupid Quantum things.

Sounds like I prodded the snoozing bear off the sofa…….. ๐
Actually, I’m quite surprised – Bournemouth and Poole area is only moderately hard water @ 19 Clarke. The ISE is factory set to 3 so no fiddling!! It gets better all the time!! ๐
Looking forward to delivering it!! Thanks for the info.Steve.

Na, I shut up if I’ve nowt to say. ๐
Apart from which I’ve had no internet at home for two days and, yes, it felt like someone had removed a limb before you all start, hence the very quiet kwatt the past couple of days. It’s no fun trying to do a 12-14 hours day in little over 8 hours.
So instead what did I do?
I went out delivering and installing ISE machines. In the past week, two tens, a dishwasher, a five and that’s what I can remember as I’m sure there were more but the weekend is sorta blurred into the past week or three ATM.
I tell you what though, it’s no fun lifting a 10 up to the third floor by hand, no fun at all… especially when it’s nigh on 30รลกC outside. ๐ฎ
Well happy customers though, makes it all worth it.
