My bosch counter top compact dishwasher is playing up, it sits on the worktop and the drain hose connects under neath the waste trap under the sink. However sometimes and not all the time, once it has completed a draining cycle and starts the rinse it fills up, then it seems to drain away under gravity and then it doesnt fill back up as the timer clicks onto the wash part of the rinse and assumes it is full of water.

I opened the door and saw the water just slowly draining away.

The hose at the back is not kinked and the dishwasher appears to be level when checked with a spirit level and the hose at the back is at an angle so it is above the sump anyway.

Can anyone help as im worried that the pump may get damaged if it does this while im out as if i leave it the wash pump will just run as if it is full of water but tries to fill up with water for about 5mins then moves on in its program.

If i get it to do a proper drain cycle then i start the rinse off again it fills fine and this “gravity” drainage problem is no longer aparent, it is very random!

    HMMM

    Model number is as follows:

    SKT5002GB/02

Siphoning is what it seems to be doing although the water trickles out when it does this.

The air break will be clogged up – you need to remove the casing and follow the internal hose from the drain pump (or the drain hose) to a clear plastic moulding. This needs to be pulled out and cleaned as it collects goo and blocks the vent hole.

    Then it’ll stop syphoming.

Stay safe, power off if you intend to do this yourself.

Which side is best to remove looking at the front of it? Do i need to get to it from underneath?

What does this air break thing do???

The white outer casing is a wrap over, it will all come off as one. Lots of screws………

The air break does just that – it allows air to enter the drainage system and will break a syphon. If it plugs up, no air enters the system and the machine can syphon.

I may attempt to do this tomorrow, of course I will unplug it first, am I gonna have to remove any motors or anything to get to the piece causing the problem? How simple is this?

Found the exploded view on bosch website can you highlight the part number i need to be looking at:

Anyone know which part is from the diagram because I want to fix it today, I had it on last night and in the rinse cycle it drained itself again!

Link doesn’t work. Remove casing and follow the drain hose – it’ll take you straight to it. As I said before…..

I took the casing off, followed from the drain hose at the back and it linked upto this sort of plastic thing that had some sort of a one way valve in that opened when it was draining, at the top of that was like a float thingy that seemed to go up when it was pumping out under pressure, there was a little bit of black dirt in the top so cleaned it and flushed it through, however i noticed that this float thingy doesnt always drop back down like it shud when there is no water to drain out and a tap with a screwdriver it drops back down again. So put it back together and tested it, first wash again and on the last rinse program it was siphoning again, really dont know what to try next???

If the float is sticking, it sounds like you haven’t cleaned it properly….you’ll have to be a bit inventive…for example, you could fill a washing-up liquid bottle with water/detergent (or even bleach! solution-inverted and squeezed hard, it will give quite a powerful cleaning -jet.

cotton -buds ,kebab skewers ,bottle-brushes,old toothbrushes…etc. can all be used to clean awkward areas…..if something is sticking, it’s possibly worn or distorted,if it’s not due to “gunge” buildup.

If it’s beyond you, it may be worthwhile using the “find an engineer” feature at the bottom….alternative is to scrap the machine or take a chance on a repairer who might rip you off.

At least you can be sure anyone contacted through here is honest and competent.

    Guess what!

I have tried all those cleaning methods, I used bleach squeezed into the hole and then used a spray bottle on the jet mode to clean it, it is spotless, there was a slight build up before but is now spotless.

It seems that sometimes it sticks sometimes it doesnt and it always seems to be on the final rinse that it does this.
