ParticipantElectrolux EWD1409i integrated washer drier. PNC 91460123500. Serial no:- 64300674.
PCB. no’s:- 91460123500. MCF 132370542-002-. CCF 132406410-001-.This “super high quality” :rotfl: washer drier has blown the main PCB board. Not even 18 months old. 👿 There is no display and the machine appears dead with the exception of the power lamp. Sometimes the interlock will chatter when switched on. The interlock has signs of overheating and the body plastic is slightly burnt. I think this problem has caused the PCB to expire. Any input on this would be appreciated.
There has been a lot of talk in the forums about Lux / Zanussi PCB’s failing so is this a common problem?
I used to thoroughly recommend Zanussi products to customers. But these late machines with welded tubs and electronics with the reliability of a chocolate fireguard means I see Zanussi as becoming the new Indesit. What utter garbage!! 😈
Any help please!!
Steve.

Yes, changed the main board and interlock (as a precaution) but on doing so the display board failed to light up so it needed on of those as well, we think its caused by customers leaving the machine turned on 24/7.

Oh joy!! :rolls:
Thanks Mark for the response. Here’s hoping the facia PCB is OK – it’s for a letting agent who doesn’t understand that parts take time to arrive and that no-one can stock every single spare part, available every day, just in case. 👿Steve.

KeymasterSteve,
If you look on main PCB and see blowing tracks (microcontroler aswell) you surely have to change display board too…
In order to see (check) that, measure smd capacitor (which is located near plug on display board / no plug on board and it’s look like little cilinder) on “diode” scale. If it’s showing over 0,400 on both polarity is good, but if it’s around 0,030 is gone…This happen when 5Volts arrise too much… and main cause is blowing thermal resistor from door lock…

Thanks, Baron for the warning – this is turning into a very expensive repair and nothing is in stock. The letting agent is going to love me……… 🙁

Against my better judgement, I ordered the main PCB and the user interface (fascia PCB). TDS shows the user interface PCB (1321914754); the main PCB (973914601235000) was supplied configured. Also fitted new interlock unit (1249675131).
Just to recap on the original fault, the interlock was burnt and would chatter loudly, nothing else. No display. The main PCB was found to be blown in several places.
Fitted the new parts today and ‘Yes!!’ the program times show on the display. 😀 Then pressed the ‘Start’ button. The door interlock locks, and the Start LED keeps flashing………but the machine is dead. I have tried everything I can think of on this stupid machine and it still will not work. TDS offers no clues. My gut instinct was right all along!! 😈
The new main PCB is right in part number but the type numbers don’t match. The S/W version number is different too. Does that matter? All the plugs are keyed so getting them wrong is unlikely; I marked them as well to be sure. The interlock, and both PCB’s are new; all wiring is fine and in place………I’m foxed!!!!!! 😥One thing it has (very expensively) taught me is that Lux machines are as cr@p as Indesit. And I won’t be doing this again…..
Please…..any help or pointers greatly appreciated!!!!

I know how to access diagnostics, but I have looked at TDS and I can’t find a test program mentioned, only Demo mode. 😕
It is as if the main PCB is not configured, as the display board seems to work perfectly. And the door locks. There is only one main PCB available for this machine, but as I said, the type numbers and S/W version doesn’t match the original board.
The only option I have is to go back and try the diagnostics. Can you detail the test program setting please Mark?Cheers,
Steve.

Right, got this 18 month old machine working at last. It needed:-
Door interlock
Main PCB
Display interface
Analogic pressure switch. All because of a simple shorting door interlock…………..:rolls:
Ridiculous – and ridiculously expensive to repair. Electrolux should be asking themselves some serious questions producing stuff like this. Only with the help of Alex and Co was I able to sort this out. Thanks guys!!
Older and wiser……… 😉
