ParticipantJust had a look at the Argos website, oh my god, i dont think i’ve seen a larger collection of dumbed down appliances in my life. A HEC??? for £159.99 kicks off their exquisite washer collection, in fact they have 5 of the beauties.
Never heard of them, im assuming its from the land of 1.3 billion little people.. speaking of which, the offerings continue with no less than 18 Haier :eeek: Argos is making Comet look like Harrods! On a brighter note, there are also 18 Bekos to choose from for the more selective chav :rolls: This surely must be the most extensive collection of throw-away sh*t on offer from the major players, can anyone find worse?

HEC = HK Electrical of Hong Kong as far as I can see. Machines appear to be 1990’s Indesit/Ariston clones.
Deep and profound joy.

I used to think think the Indesits we had to work on during the ’90s were a bit built to a price, god, little did we know what was in store come the millennium. Not bad wee machines in hindsight.
In all honesty though, having been to see a Zanussi on Thursday, a ZWF 1427, 19 months old.. TOTALLY BER, im beginning to wonder if a name means anything any more. Armature was seriously down to earth, module had blown in 2 places & the welded drum bearings had signs of free play. So £350 down the pan for my customer( plus my callout)
Electrolux loses another customer..

Now, if you’d had a nice ISE5 in the van, you’d have had:
1/ A happy customer,
2/ A guaranteed customer for five years,
3/ The knowledge that you’ve done a good thing and can sleep easy,
4/ A decent profit to boot.Chris.

Yeah, bring back rotting alloy bearing housings and nice breakable timer knobs… I loved both but the rubbish plastic clutches where a bit pants.
At least they were cheap enough to fix but then, they cost tuppence ha’penny to buy in the first place. Not much changes bar the scenery IMO and that fixing the rubbish is now more expensive in comparison.
Maybe it’s a swindle. 😉
