Hi, I have a Hotpoint RLA84 fridge that has started playing up. It’s not getting down to it’s normal temperature although as strange as it sounds it has ice on the back wall. The temperature is reading around 10 deg. The compressor appears to be running constantly even when control set to minimum.

It seemd to work fine until my wife decided to defrost the ice and also pulled it out to clean behind it…she claims it was nothing she did.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    oh dear

ive had a few of them things blocked

its unlieley to be the thermostat.. its not impossible your wifes damaged a pipe when she cleaned round the back

is the ice on the back evenly spread, or is it concentrated on one area?

    Re: Hotpoint RLA84 not cooling

The ice is concentrated at the top, about 10 inches or so. It was defrosted on Saturday and started to build up again by Sunday.

The compressor (well the big black lump at the back which I think is the compressor) seems very hot, ie too hot to touch for long.
