Hello, I have an issue with my whirlpool dishwasher that the start light flashes 4 times and then pauses.

I have had a read around and have cleaned wide-mesh, fine-mesh and micro filters. This does not make a difference though.

I noticed that the sump has water standing in it. Should this be the case?

The black grid does have a white gunge build up as well but it not totally blocked. Any suggestion on what I need to do?
I have not dismantled anything yet.

    Thanks in advance,

    Steve

4 flashes is drain not detected within the time allowed. If you can see fat deposits in the Water Indicator (black grid), I’d start by getting that cleaned out first – hot water and a toothbrush may do it.

Half an inch of water left in the sump is quite normal.

Thanks very much Penguin45. That sorted it for me. Just a bit of hot water and I forced it to start by holding down start and it is sorted. Thanks again.
