select any prog, drain pump in, water in for about 30secs, then drains then f7 with bleep. no fault with i/l valve, hose not kinked..flow meter fault? but there seems to be plenty of water pressure..is the little sensor at the bottom of the inlet matrix a suspect too?

Little sensor at the bottom of the inlet matrix is the flow meter. Its connector is the prime suspect. Clean, squeeze, refit will often do the trick.
