Participanti’ve been out to a hotpoint ffn70 and a ffa70s, both have the defrost alert light on. theres no build up of ice in the freezer and both compartments seem cold enough. can anybody shed any light on it for me.

The new ff range of f/freezers do this when there has been a power cut and maintain a temp of zero so that food will not re-freeze and give you food poisoning. Just press button to reset. Been to one today where only fridge getting cold divertor valve was stuck. Hope this helps.

except where ive been to them, only a short power cut, but enough to trigger the light, unfortunatly it then only runs as 0C, so even if the food didnt start to defrost during the power cut, it does when running at 0!, customer not too happy

Hi Lerch, How did you sort out the stuck diverter valve? Are they serviceble? Ive had a few of these with this problem (only one compartment cold) and was not sure if it was diverter valve or board. It would be interesting to know how to deal with this problem instead of having to walk away.
Thanks

Is there a valve in the diverter unit that you replace? Or do you replace the whole thing? Which would seem to mean cutting the copper lines to and from the unit and rebrazing.
