This tumble dryer runs, but is very noisy, and vibrates. I think the front fan is broken. Trouble is, I cant find a way to access it. Has anyone done one of these? What is the best way into the machine? Any advice welcome please.
You have to lie the appliance on its front remove the rear heater cover, remove rear fan, remove bottom base pannel, remove the rear plastic motor casing, remove the motor and replace fan. There is no easy way into this model.
worth mentioning:
~ rear fan often cannot be removed as gets rusted in and has to be broken off and replaced.
~ later cl767 style models dont have a base panel and you have to remove the entire back plate.
I have successfully removed fan. I found it unneccessary to totally remove the rear panel. I removed the heater assembly, and the screws from the lower half of the panel. I did not remove the rear drum bearing securing screws. There is enough flex in the rear panel to allow pulling the lower edge away and working through the gap. The rear fan was rusted on. I removed the securing bolt and soaked the shaft in WD40. then inserted 3 wood blocks behind the fan. I then inserted a masonry nail into the bolt hole and hit it with a small hammer. As the fan moved, I progressively increased the thickness of the wooden packing. Had it off in 5 minutes without breakage. Hope this helps someone.
