    Hi all,

My F+P MW059NZ has stopped a few times just prior to spinning – beeping once a second continuosly until I switch it off at the wall. I found this great forum, ran the diag test and got code 37. I didn’t think it was a pump fault though, because the next time that it happened, it had already finished pumping out the water a couple of minutes prior to faulting.

The very next load I put on was a full load, and it stopped shortly after filling the machine. I tested the pump in diagnostics mode and it seemed fine. After draining about half the water I switched off the machine and then started the cycle again, and it stopped again just after filling. I decided to check the diagnostic code again, and this time it came up with a code of 12 – can anyone tell me what that means?

    Thanks in advance,
    Steve

I forgot to mention that just before it gave up the last time, I also noticed the agitator was irregularly twitching one way then the other. That was just after the machine had finished filling the water.

Taken together, the two relate to water level problems.

12 is flood protection – water level detected as too high and the pump is not clearing it. Possible reasons are water in the pressure tube to the level switch (with machine fully drained, disconnect hose and blow back through) or possibly the level switch itself being faulty. This is an integral part of the motor controller PCB.

As far as 37 is concerned, the pump should deliver a full and fast flow from the drain pipe and not trickle out. If it seems slow, it will be worth removing the top deck and bowl and esuring that there are no obstructions and that the cover over the impellor is located properly.

Thank you so much. The pump operates very well, so I’ll check out the tube. How do I access it? If it turns out to be the switch, is it possible some contact cleaner might fix it?

Remove top deck – two screws at the back. Look for a skinny hose running up with the drain hose into the control panel area.

Contact cleaner will not resolve a level switch issue – it’s a proprtional device usinhg a magnet moving through a coil to generate a signal. There are no contacts.

Legendary – thank you Penguin45, I’ll have a go at it this weekend.

Actually I just tried it now and then ran another cycle. It stopped again with error code 00100111, which I see posted as ‘change in water level not deteted within time allowed’. Kind of makes sense seeing as it was supposed to be a 1/2 load and the machine had filled up 3/4 when it stopped.

I see there’s a blue wire inside the tube – is that supposed to be connected to anything? It stops about 2 inches away from the very top of the tube.

Also, even though the machine was completely empty when I blew through the tube, I could definitely feel some sort of resistance – is that normal?

The wire is a stiffener to prevent the hose getting kinked. Being a small bore hose, it won’t allow a great deal of air through quickly. You need to ensure that the machine is fully drained before refitting the hose so that no water remains in the air pressure bell at the bottom.

I’m inclining more towards the level switch.

Yep – that’s what it was. I picked up a reconditioned PCB from a local parts outlet and now it works perfectly. FYI to anyone else reading, Guinness Appliances in Tauranga sell motor controller PCBs new for $190 or reconditioned for $115 and they’re very easy to install. Thanks for your help Chris 🙂

    Glad you got there.
