KGN34X60 keeps frosting up – Help!

Hi there,

I have a KGN34X60GB that looses its ability to cool in the fridge compartment. The freezer seems to work fine however there is ice buildup on the evaporator.

I have had Bosch service out to check it before and the engineers advise was to “defrost it manually” by turning it off for 2 days. This does fix the problem and the fridge then works brilliantly for about 3 months. The fridge then looses cooling rapidly and eventually gives up completly (freezer still cools solidly)

I understand the reason for the fridge not cooling is that the cool air flow conduits are packed full of ice BUT, its extremly annoying having to defrost the whole fridge every couple of months for 2 – 3 days. It seems to freeze up like clockwork every 3 months.

The unit is 23 months old, however its had this problem from new. I am fed up with constantly having to defrost manually. Am i going to have to live with it or is there a permanent fix? I am almost out of the 2 year warranty and would like this fixed. The engineer is booked in for this week. Is there anything i should know about ie improved/reissued parts etc.
