ParticipantHi,
our tumble dryer seems to be on its way out so we are looking at getting a new one, the model i was looking at is the zanussi ZDC47100W, it seems to be a new model as i cant find any reviews on it so i was wondering if you had any opinions on it, i know zanussi are a good make but just wanted to check it is going to be reliable, one thing in particular i was wondering is how long it will take to dry a full load of cottons and how loud it is, we currently have a compact hotpoint dryer would it be around the same nosie level as that?Cheers

Hi Ant
Good article here in our advice and help section, well worth a read before you take the plunge and spend your well earned cash.
Drying time depends on the spin speed and water extraction of your washing machine. Zanussi don`t quote the noise level in the spec, so I can`t answer that one I`m afraid.
If you can go the extra mile get one of these ISE 10 Condenser tumble dryer 6KG load C rated with a full ten-year warranty worth every penny.

If it is any consolation, the current Zanussi range of condenser driers will be quieter than their ancient predecessors.
My mum had a Zanussi TC470 condenser model that lasted 11 years.
She bought a ZDC46130 that is much quieter. It has a water collection bottle at floor level, and steel drum. ‘Twas in an Electricity Board Shop sale, a couple of months ago. It actually feels sturdier than the old TC470.
The model you quote is slightly different again. It looks as though it has a water collection bottle situated on the fascia. This would be in keeping with the design of the top-of-the-range model, where the production techniques finally filter down to the cheaper models, after a year or so.

Drum will detatch from bearing support at approximately three years old. The appliance is a total nightmare to work on.
Stick with the Zanussi.

That’s what constant cost engineering has achieved since yours was made……

Participantmr p is spot on .. the new range of white knight dryers are nothing but pants
ive lost count of how many of the new ones ive fitted drums/supports/back panels on.. they are simply cheaply and badly designed
its been well documented on here many a time that theres only really the zanussi dryers that are in any way reliable
i aint seen a zanussi dryer with a water tank at the bottom for quite some time
but, its your call at the end of the day

Thanks for all the advice guys, im going to order the zanussi today, so hopefully it should be hear tomorrow and i can tell you what it is like. The water bottle was one thing that did confuse me, as the model i looked at in currys it was on the floor, but in the currys brochure it is a drawer at the top, also on the zanussi website it is shown as a drawer at the top, i tried looking at the instruction manual on the service force website but i think because its new its not on there yet, o well im not too fussed, i would have preferred it at the top but i dont mind having it at the bottom as long as its a reliable dryer
Cheers
AntP.s. i dont know if any of you will know what im on about but do you know if anyone still does those home dry cleaning kits? i remeber persil used to do one a few years back but i cant see it anymore
