    Hi there,

    I have a Hotpoint WM63 which the door will not unlock. My Wife said that she put a load on to wash and there was a “loud bang”. The wash continued ok but at the end of the wash the red door lock light stayed on. I have run it through another cycle and it worked fine including pumping the water out. But still the door is locked.
    Can someone point me in the right direction before I start pulling it to pieces.

    You need one of THESE. The bang will be the heater mechanism inside it exploding, leaving the locking bolt in the closed position.

    Power off, lid off, reach down the inside front and break the old one to get in.

    Do not continue to run the appliance – there is a serious risk of damaging the timer/pcb unit.

    Virtually every time i see this the timer has blown a track.

    Just a quick update on this,
    Have fitted a new interlock and had a couple of dodgy tracks on the timer patched by the electronics bods at work. Put it back together last night and ran it through a test wash. All seemed to work fine the door unlocked at the end of the cycle.
    A BIG thumbs up for all your help.
