ParticipantHi Guys,
Need a bit of help please. Indi WIA101 had faulty module (unable to cancel programme etc.) Much to my surprise customers insurance coughed up for new board. Fitted new board (EDT0095.6). When switched on all lights are on and the motor energises with moderate spin of drum but unable to select any programmes or get it to stop. I have tried all possible combinations of button pressing/ startup that I can think of all to no avail. Has anyone any ideas for me. The only difference I can see between old and new module is a small IC in the U2 spot.

KeymasterTranslate (move) 24C64 (memory chip) to the new board… it will help… :baby:
And at first board (old board) change “programs selector” which is one variabil resistor and will work again too (but need also one memory)… :hmm: :snigger:

Thanks for the info,
I have looked at the board but I am unable to locate the memory chip you refer to as there does not appear to be any removeable chips 🙁 Am I missing something? Hope you can help me sort it out.

KeymasterIs that “U2” position which you have talk about…
In order to understand better:
PCB have two position available for memory chip (marked with 24C64):
– SMD- situated (on little vertical plate with square microcontroler) between that microcontroler and capacitor (aluminium cilinder)…
– or DIP- in that place which is marked with “U2″…PCB should have installed in only one of those places… not in both!!!
So if your new PCB has already (or don’t have one) memory installed remove him and put memory chip from old PCB….where it should… (in this manner you transfer old program into new PCB)….

Hi Guys,
The PCB is part no. MERC00143 067 and stamped EDT0095.6 Low End. There is one small 8 pin DIL package in the upper left quadrant of the PCB, this is marked U2. The IC has no markings on it. The old board did not have this IC fitted. On the new board there are two riser boards, one in the lower left quadrant marked U1. This has a square surface mount Quad package on it type TK30246, two small 16 pin DIL packages type ULN2003A and a host of discrete componants. The board is stamped EDT0101.3. The other riser board is fitted in the U5 slot just to the left of the heat sink. has a couple of caps and a coil fitted and a small 8 pin DIL package. Both boards are fully soldered to the main PCB. I did try the new board without the U2 IC in place so as to match the original but this prevented the board from working at all. Sorry to be so long winded but it is driving me nuts 😥August 29, 2008 at 7:49 pm #260972helo_75
Participantand havent you noticed the eprom socket on the board?
it needs a programmed eprom

house_doctor,
your problem can be solved (I say again) in many ways:
1) swap and take potentiometer (program selector=R33) from new board and solder on old board and old board will work again…
2) you need one eeprom programmed with your variant:
—– buy new one programmed and put on socket U2 or
=== take out (desolder) from old board memory from whereever is situated (on U2 socket or on U1-board) and solder in same place on new board.I will ask someone to post some picture… and also send mail…

ParticipantThanks for all your help. I really do appreciate it. Just can’t understand why they ship a replacement board without the correct programmed eprom already on it – wots the point! I would apprecaite the photo’s. Thanks once again, you are all very kind.

KeymasterRe: Indesit WIA101
It’s very simple:
– one universal board
– different eeprom programsSo when you order board is one universal not specific one… and additional eeprom will cost you extra…
In other words:
– they do as simply and cheaper as possible can be from theire point of view (do not need extra people to programm those chips when they ship to you)…
– needing something extra (beside board) they can win some extra money in different ways: buying extra eeprom memory or if you’re engage on this field area (repairing) you will need to buy instead of eeprom memory, programming units (harware keys/smart key/computers programs/…) which expand theyre incoming…On last paragraph I will say only: IT IS Normal because they have bussiness to making work and for that, money from service/spare part field, means a lot….
