ParticipantAnybody got a circuit or wiring diagram for this 23 yr old cooker, please?
Fitted new fan mtr yesterday. Customer says it cut out below set temp. on first use. Anybody know why genuine fan motor (not the pattern one I fitted) is pictured with extra wires?

Hi Mike.
I dont have a diagram for this exact model, but I do have one for a similar model which may help, just PM with email address.
If I recall this motor has a TOC built into the winding, also very particular about having its cooling fan on the end of the shaft.Regards,
Mike.

Thanks for the diagram Mike.
Turned out the TOC had gone permanently open circuit on first use :?. Could be , as you suggested, that the little fan on the back was too loose on the new shaft allowing fan mtr to overheat.
Looking at circuit it appears that the element current has to pass through the fan TOC.
What I can’t understand is how that tiny TOC with its tiny wires can be expected to carry 10 amps. Am I missing something?

IIRC we never managed to get one of those TOC’s to last more than ten minutes and always bypassed them in the end. Also, it’s vital to replace the cooling fan as well or you’ll be back again in a couple of months to replace the motor again 😉

That’s great to hear somebody else had same problem. Thanks for that Clive. Still don’t understand how previous motor lasted ten years 😕 . (Following two or three that lasted one year each – customer has kept a mental note).
Side note:- Old mtr coil 66ohms, new one 44ohms. 😕
It’s got sentimental value, this one. Wedding present, top of the range, looked after with loving care – (’till I got my hands on it). Still, you can understand them wanting to save it when you see the cr@p that’s out there now.
