    Hi We have just moved into a house that has a Permutit 8.32 water softener, something of a surprise.
    Can anyone suggest where we might get a user/operating manual?

    Permutit 8.32?….blimey that’s 20 or more years old I know? An operating manual may lie in a musuem somewhere I guess. :rolls:

    Have you resolved your information needs as I have some old material re setup, programming & technical spec.?

    I wouldn’t hold your breath on that Alan to be honest. Aside from the fact that water softeners are’nt classed as whitegoods either so not the best forum to ask. You’d do far better asking Permutit (if they’re still around?) or better still a local company that specialises in water softeners.

    Indeed, thanks for that iadom,

    I have technical spec for the 8.25, 8.32, & 8.42 models plus 9.44TM & 4L Permutit models, circa 1985 and the Series 8 Supplement to the Installation and Operating Instructions for Meter Controlled Water Softeners only, that includes programming, adjustments & very basic fault finding.

    If profitxchange has the 8.32M then this could be what he needs.

    If you search for Permutit 8.32 this is the only forum reference you’ll get so seems an appropriate venue – profitxchange thought so & I thought he might have “Notify me when a reply is posted” option still enabled.

    I had been checking my post for a while but not this year as I presumed no one had any info.

    We have the softner working (and it has been serviced) but I would very much appreciate any user/instructions or manuals so that I can understand what is going on and how to keep it going.

    I will send you what I have. Not sure how to do so though, perhaps iadom could help?

    I have had the Permutit 8.25M for 10 years now with no problems but would like to have a set of instructions if possible. Can you oblige?

    Hi Sorry for the delay – been away.

    The only instructions I was able to get from here were installation instructions.

    Having now used the softner for about a year I might be able to help with any simple aspects.
