We have a Dyson DC07 which has given us good service for a 3 or 4 years. However, recently for no apparent reason the suction seems to have fallen off a bit ( CHECKED ALL TEH USUAL SUSPECTS – BRUSH, FILTER ETC) so my wife has bought a new Hoover – as above – it was an end of range model & cheap – so it sounds like a good deal ( not much more than £50).

The question is though is it any good & is it better than the Dyson it might replace. We’ve not taken it out of the box yet – but it feels light ( does that =skimpy design & production?) and looks quite small ( capacity feels like it might be smaller than the dyson)…

Anyway enough rabbiting on from me…any views from any one welcolmed …

    Thanks

i would stick with the dyson
anything made by hoover is rubbish (imo)
on the dyson if it is one with a clutch check it is on auto
if it is check the hose for a blockage
and check belt isn`t broken or if brushroll chamber is blocked

another vote for Dyson over Hoover….shame, really!

just go through your Dyson, SYSTEMATICALLY. start where the dirt gets sucked-up and work your way round the various passages. remember there’s a spring-loaded valve which “dumps” air into the system (check by selecting the flexible hose and putting your hand over the end)……..you should notice the noise change markedly and revert when you remove your hand…..no change would indicate a blockage OR A VACUUM LEAK…
Of course, you checked it’s properly assembled everything clipped together, didn’t you?
