ParticipantDiplomat ADP8252 dishwasher. (Smeg). Nr:- 06536 – 1002. Typ. 12043.
Fault: unable to program machine. Program button will not select anything but ‘P0’. Nothing else works.
I’ve tried a solenoid on the dispenser wires and looked at the PCB – no solder joint problems. Door switch tried in the open and closed position – still nothing. It seems that the PCB is at fault – second opinion please!!
Anyone know the part number for the PCB? It’s the 3 button type with an LCD display. Thanks,
Steve.

PCB is 696290726.
The usual provisos apply – mains suppressor and dispenser solenoid can cause corruption issues. Mark says the motor capacitor is also a surprise culprit……

Hi, pull the motor plug off and see if that does the trick. If there is water in the base it causes the motor to lock out the pcb.It may be the o rings on the air break leaking if there is water in the base.Does the pcb bleep twice when you press the P button. You have tried all the usual tricks, motor plug, dispenser solenoid/wax jack.If this still will not programme, cut the covering off the loom where it bends under the door, I have had wires break and it gives this fault, usually the white ones.other than that pcb.Hope this helps. All the best.mendy

Tried the following today:-
Swapped dispenser solenoid – fault still present.
Motor capacitor – all OK.
Blown mains suppressor – replaced, fault still present.
Split door loom and checked – no broken wiring.Open the door and switch the machine on. Door lock in the open position. “PO” shows on the display, 3 seconds later, 2 beeps and nothing else. The clock button when pressed shows 22 minutes, otherwise nothing. Shut the door and the machine is dead.
I am pretty convinced the PCB has been corrupted by the blown suppressor; any further thoughts before I order a new one?
Thanks for the help so far,
Steve.
P.S. What is the “wax jack”? 😕

PCB it is then.
Dispenser release solenoid can be of two types – good old fashioned coil clunker, or a wax motor. PTC device expands with heat and fires the flap – this is the “wax jack”. Unfortunately, they both get damp, with the inevitable consequences.
Went to a Servis d/w recently which used a wax motor to open the steam flap. It actually bew a hole through the inner door panel when it failed.

H Steve, yes the pcb’s are £115.72 plus vat and postage. This sounds like one of those jobs you get at 3pm on friday and wish you had never started. When the pcb’s lock out there are so many reasons and I am still finding new ones after 30 years.I would go for a pcb but any break in the wiring will cause the symptom.A stuck flood switch can also do it.As it is on P0, it sounds like it had aborted the programme and defaulted to drain.
Sorry cannot be more specific but I think it will be trial and error. All the best. -
