    Item: 3-way camping fridge
    Fuel: — gas, 240V AC, 12V dc
    Make: Dometic (Electrolux)
    Model: RC1600EGP
    Type: JCB-1

Camping fridge was bought second-hand but found to be working fine. After a week’s camping, and a move to a different site, fridge stopped working after a couple of days. First week we had been running on gas, second on mains electric, but neither fuel would work. (In both cases the back of the fridge was warm/hot as expected for a working fridge.)

Turning the fridge upside down for a while seemed to fix it, until we went on holiday again…and found that it wouldn’t work. Gas would light happily, but fridge would not get cold.

Any ideas what might be wrong with it?
(I do not believe that there is a problem with either the gas or electric supply to it.)

    Is it repairable?
Is it worth repairing, considering a new (slightly better) equivalent could be had on ebay for £140?

    Cheers

Without wanting to sound rude, the question was NOT answered, which is why I started a new thread with a different emphasis. The ‘turning-upside-down’ trick appeared to fix it, but only while we were at home. (Once we were away it was obvious it was not working.) The previous post was mainly to ask why turning-over should have an effect at all (which was helpfully answered).

In this new thread, the fridge is essentially non-working, as turning over for a few hours has no long-term effect; hence my questions: what’s wrong with it? is it repairable? is it worth repairing? (see original post).

    Regards
    PJ
