ParticipantHi having problems with a Samsung RS20CCMS. Fridge door light flashed @ 6 but fridge was warm. freezer was reading -20 but was warming thermemeter read just -5.
Looking at this link…….
http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … ge&pid=209
It could just be the thermal fuse.
Here are my observations perhaps someone could tell me what parts I should expect to replace?
The thermal fuse is reading open circuit – under what circumstances does this blow?
The internal thermostat (yellow wires) reads 7K when connected or 16K when closed. (Fridge temp at ~18 degrees)
The Main heater reads 140R when connected 200R when disconnected.
The Bottom heater reads 140R when connected and 400R when not.
(Quite a bit out from the ab0ve link but it is a different model)
The thermostat “inside” the freezer compartment reads 7K
The fan works fine.
Worryingly – on the thin gas (or is it liquid) pipe at the top of the freezer section: the rubber like shielding shows evidence of melting.
And at the bottom from the rear the rubbery shield over the bulge in the gas pipe situated above the compressor has mostly melted.
Thanks.September 15, 2008 at 12:11 pm #262583admin

Hi
The most probable fault is the defrost sensor ( yellow wires ).

Thanks Bryan,
OK I’m happy to replace this component but I want to be sure were on the same page because as the pictures on the shopping section do not match.
Is the defrost sensor a white cylinder about 8mm diameter and 30mm long, with yellow wires? If so this component is the one reading 16K ohm @ 18 degrees – presumably not far of what it should be?In the link above it said to do a continuity test on the Thermal fuse. My component fails this test. On my freezer this component has a black and a red wire, and the device is incased in a clear plastic sheath. If I need one of these which part number should I select?
Are the components from an rs20 and an rs21 interchangeable?
