ParticipantThis unit flooded its base yesterday. I took it out, tilted it and ran out the water then put it through a short test cycle. At the end of the test, I couldn’t select a user program. Eventually after some random button-pushing, it started.
Now, this unit has been acting-up a lot recently, including eternal washing (finishing a cycle then starting it over again). To stop this happening I stopped the cycle near the end as it was drying the dishes. Now I am back where I can’t select a program (i.e. pushing P does lights no LEDs).
Indesit! Never again!

No ideas on this? I can put it through a long or short test but I just can’t select a program manually.
I know it deserves an outing to the council dump as it’s an Indesit but I’d like a few more miles out of it yet. It’s obviously functioning ok, as the tests run fine but it’s just not responding to a manual program.

Sorry, I (and presumably the other posters on this forum) have no idea. Possibly locked into some sort of test mode? PCB will almost certainly be the culprit. Given the reliabilty of Indesit electronics and the general quality of the appliance, a value for money repair is rahther debatable.

I have been a repair engineer for about 10 years and believe it or not I have an Ariston LSI61 at home which I continually have problems with. I keep repairing it myself and now and again I get the problem of the PCB not coming out of test mode. It is currently in this state and has been for two days. I just can’t get it to revert to user mode!
The last few times I just left it a few days and it sorted itself out after basically randomly pressing the power and P buttons. It is really driving me mad this time. Can anyone help a relatively competent repair engineer????

Well, it finally came round to working! I put it into a long test cycle and afterwards held down the ‘P’ button while switching off the power. I released the ‘P’ button before switching it back on. It works now!
Don’t know if this was luck or a structured method but I’m not even going to try putting it into test mode again!
