    Hi

I just bought a second hand hotpoint wd61, done a wash, seems fine, set it to dry for half hour (only put in 4 things just to give it a quick test if you see what i mean.) and still damp, doesn’t seem to be any heat at all?

Help?! I don’t seem to have much luck with Washer Dryers at the moment and can see this one being chucked out the window very very soon!

    Thanks in advance

    Ok, Quick Update!

My partner has just taken the top of the washer dryer and it looks like the thermal switch? has completely burn’t out from the inside? is this common? expensive to fix
I can’t believe this, I swear me and washer dryers just do not mix!

    Help?! 🙁

they do go, its not unusual

make sure the fan motor runs, theres water comin in, and the heatrs ok before you replace it

Check the dryer heater wiring for “chaffing” where it is fastened to the motor. 😉

Its not just you, the Hotpoint WD61 is not the worst washer dryer on the market, infinitely better than the Indesit based rubbish they are now churning out.

    Don’t buy one

    Hi,

Thanks for your replies, right…I’ve ordered new Thermal doodahs, should be here tomorrow – I hope!

The ‘Washing’ part seemed fine but now every time I put a wash in the Fan Belt comes off 🙁 At first I thought I was putting too much in at one time so I put the belt back on and put in literally 4 tea towels lol and 5 mins in, the belt came off??
I think this ones going to be winging its way to Washer Dryer hell very soon!!

Sending my partner to buy a new Belt but my god if something else goes wrong with this I swear you will ALL hear me SCREAMING at the bluddy thing!!

    Thanks again

If the belt keeps coming off then it is either very slack or the drum bearings have failed. Is the drum noisy if you spin it by hand?

On this particular model the motor mountings can also break away allowing the motor to flex and throw the belt off.

The belt can be tensoined by adjusting the bolt at the top rear of the motor, the belt should be fairly tight with little or no play in it.

    Jim.
