Hi – on recommendation from this website I just brought a Bosch Classixx. It was a real fight with my girlfriend to persuade her we needed one so I need to make sure it works really well. I have read all the stuff about how powder is better than tablets (with the possible exception of Fairy Burst Active).

I’m now just about to go down to the supermarket and buy the powder, rinse aid and salt. However, I can’t seem to find any recommendations on which powder and rinse aid to buy. I read somewhere that all the salts are the same.

So I was wondering what everyone else uses?

Thanks for the link. It doesn’t seem to recommend any particular brands though, anyone have any recommendations?

    Simply is good.

    Fairy Active is good.

Powder is hard to come by these days, seems everyone wants tablets.

Rinse aid, there’s little difference in any of the major brands that I could see and salt is the same.

I use the £1 shop tablets they are smaller than other tablets like finish and they incorporate rinse aid and salt apparently, however I still use separate rinse aid and salt in my dishwasher as reccomended by most people on the forum.

Now I know what your thinking the cheap £1 shop tablets cant be that good but really for every day washing up, breakfast pots, dinner and tea they are fine, I have not had to put anything back through. They are £1 for 20tablets. If however I do have a sunday dinner and there are lots I still use the cheap tablets and just put it on an intensive wash it washes perfect unless ive overfilled it and that where it doesnt wash properly!

Which will cause overfoaming on many machines and cause them to overflow into the base and lockout. You can also cause a suds lock on the pressure switch.

Not a good idea generally. 😉

How come they can overfoam on other machines when the table top dishwashers are most likely to overfoam?

I bought some tesco value tablets today, they are even smaller than the pound shop ones and there is no foam at all, they wash perfectly.

Size is not important, whatever the Mrs says……. content is. It’s just chemistry when you get down to it. Do the job long enough and we know what works in what machine.

We also what know what just doesn’t work at all; both machines and detergents.

There are times when it pays to trust the engineers, rather than the propoganda produced by the manufacturers.

I know i do trust what you guys say, what I am saying though is the tesco value tablets for instance have been voted a hot buy in which magazine.
