I have a Hotpoint TDC60P tumble-dryer which has worked fine for 6 years now. I’m now experiencing a problem.

The machine works fine from cold; produces heat & tumbles ok.
However, after about 3-4 minutes the Dryer light extinguishes & the machine loses heat, although it continues tumbling & reversing as usual.
I’ve purchased (although not yet fitted,) a pair of thermostats for the rear of the machine but I know that there is another ‘stat fitted above the door.

Could this front exhaust thermostat be causing the heat fail problem?

If the machine is stopped & then restarted then occasionally the Dryer light will flicker on for a second or two.
Leaving the door open for a period of time & then restarting the machine often produces heat normally with the Dryer light illuminated – at least for a few minutes.

Any help would be appreciated here.
    Many thanks.

TBH the small stat above the door is often the cause of just such a problem, the main stats at the rear generally stop the machine from heating completely once the fail.

The dryness module can also fail but normally with the heater staying on all the time even when it should be off.

    Door stat is a 1701575

Many thanks for your reply Jim.

I’ll change the front ‘stat to begin with & see if that solves the problem.

Just hope its that or the main stats, the PCB is very expensive. 😥
