    All of a sudden there’s a “horrible scraping noise” whenever the drum rotates, even by hand.

    I imagine something (a coin?) has got between the drum and it’s casing? Is that likely? Anything else likely?

    Where’s best to look, and what’s the prognisis for various possibilities, please?

    If the lady of the house wears underwired support equipment, I’d start by asking her to check them…………

    Stick your head in the drum, and see if you can see it 8)

    If not, get us the full model number, please.

    Ah ha. In the light of day, and with a torch, I found the offending item which was fortunately still sticking through into the drum. Part if a bra, indeed, I think…
