ParticipantI have a hotpoint wd640 with 2 problems, the first problem is that the drier part no longer works, runs the cycle but no heat is produced. I may fix this if i can get the washing machine working again, any ideas on what part may be faulty will be good as i will test it while its apart.
The second problem , is that the machine runs through its wash but seem to stop doing much, the timer runs to 1 minute left and there is water in the drum and its rotating. First i thought it was just stuck in program but now think there is another problem. one of the paddles broke and a tshirt got jammed in the pump and around the heater element, i have cleaned the pump out and it now pumps again, and i believe i have removed all i can of the stuff around the heater element, there may be more. How to i removed the heater element to check, and is my chain of thought, in it being a heater element feasable. Is there a reset trip for the heater element? is there a trip for the dryer bit too. ANy advice will be great.
thanks

ParticipantRe: hotpoint wd640 problem
o.k i have fixed the main problem, there was a loose spade connector on the heater element, washing machine now working o.k again.
I have also checked the heater element on the heater box and it is o.k. I did put the machine on dry and checked the voltage accross the element and it doesnt read any voltage. if i check the voltage on the thermostat (its the one that feeds the element) there is 240v but nothing on its output pin to the element coil. does anyone have the part number for this, this is the dryer issue
