Are there any one man bands out there, who have who are home based/have an office at home? Apart from the usual contents insurance you most probably have, are your tools insured inside the house/garden shed when you bring them in, go on holiday etc. and if so who with please.

I am trying to get alternative quotes and many companies won’t cover these tools of the trade.

    Thanks.

Used to have them covered on a goods in transit policy but it got way to expensive.

They are now on my household contents insurance policy, £1000 cover, single item maximum £400 for an additional £34 per annum on the premium.

Policy is with More Th>n, ex Royal & Sun Alliance.

Your “garden shed” would need extra special security measures in place and approved by your insurance company before they would offer covering its contents. 😉

…..And if it’s more than 3 metres from your dwelling it could be as secure as Fort Knox but they wouldn’t cover you! 🙁

Hi. Thanks but I wasn’t talking about my garden shed, just tools inside the house relating to my business which are mostly out on the van all day but get bought in during weekends/holidays etc. etc.

I’m currently with CIS and up for renewal and was trying to get alternative quotes – that’s where the problem started – hardly any companies are interested!!

    Keep ’em coming though please.
