Hi,
I turned some jacket potatoes into lumps of coal yesterday by burning them!
AEG COMPETENCE B1180-4-M single electric oven.
I went to use the oven tonight and;
Neither the oven element or grill element are working.
The grill fan is working.
The rear oven fan is working.
The internal oven light is working.
The thermostat light does not light and does not click when turned right round.
All wires appear fine as does the grill element.
I have turned off power and reset the clock but no difference.Would I be correct to assume it is the thermostat controller that has failed?

If the thermostat does not click at the start of it’s movement then it is the likely culprit. With power off you can do an experiment to confirm this diagnosis. Take the 2 wires off the thermostat and join them together, making sure they won’t touch the oven metalwork etc. Switch on the power and the oven. The oven neon should be on and the oven should start to heat up. If this is the case you can then purchase and fit a new thermostat. If bypassing the thermostat makes no difference you can report back.
