More than half of those surveyed eh?……. what a load of tosh. :rolls: Now I’m no mathematician but I would have thought 99.9{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} off those buying spares off a website have no intention of calling in the experts anyway.
Nigel gets on average 2 calls a month from those ‘have a go’ sort and that is the only fact that stands up to any scrutiny. I too get a similar amount of cock-ups to deal with each month, so mustn’t grumble 🙂
Again I am not privy to any facts here but I’m certain also that of the UK whitegoods owners at large generally wouldn’t dream of doing a DIY job on their errant machine. That spares sold over the Internet represent a tiny fraction in direct relationship to those spares fitted by us experts out in the field. So all is not lost for our trade in general in that respect. 😀
Our only true worry is the state of the machines the manufacturers are shipping out these days. Not only is it impractical or financially viable to attempt a fix but those Internet DIY herberts won’t even know what to fix without expert help to tell them.
One final thought……..I’ve never met a Hindu domestic appliance service engineer? Shopkeeper, Doctor, Taxi Driver, Dentist and Chemist yes, but never a domestic appliance service engineer…..:?

Hi pup if you can tell me how that many masters of the art get lamb tenderised the way they do I’d be most grateful. Home made dhansak or lamb curry is to die for and no curry house I’ve ever tried quite gets it the same although, to be fair, one of my local ones gets pretty close. 😉
I’ve never come across a recipe that works.
But I digress…

Enjoy, you’ll notice I got a dig in about certain manufacturers trying it on with what I consider to be restrictive practices.
It’s nice to know we come so well recommended by such authoritative sources. Sometimes I think it is perhaps all worth the effort after all. 😉
