ParticipantHi this evening while cooking tea suddenly the fan oven on my leisure roma cooker stopped working, the fan, the light, the cooker and the clock(that if it is not set the fan oven won’t work) have all stopped working. The hobs and top oven are still ok, I guess that maybe the clock is broken but any advice would be helpful. I have only had the cooker for about 2 years
If it is the clock is it possable to fix and if so how easy would it be? many thanks

Sorry it is a leisure Roma 50 RM5 CV, the top is not gas it’s ceramic.
Just had it confirmed by my local repair company it’s the thermal fuse, getting it fixed in the next few days,

Hi, mine has done the same – main oven not working because the clock has no power. Please can you tell me if it was the thermal fuse and did you manage to get it fixed?
Thank you.July 30, 2013 at 12:46 pm #264335Jackal

The thermal fuse is notorious for failing causing the problem you have. It has been redesigned to try to over come the problem and now comes in a kit, part number 4410101001 which should be available from the shop on this site at around £6.00 plus postage.
Its a simple DIY job provided you have some basic electrical knowledge and do things safely ensuring you power off the appliance first
However it could be the clock timer has failed or the wiring itself.
If in any doubt get someone in to check it. Better safe than sorry.

Absolutely correct it was the thermo fuse. I ordered a new part, fitted it and all is working fine again..

Hi,
Looks like I have exactly the same problem (fan oven and clock suddenly stopped working on a Roma Leisure 100 RM10FRS).
It’s got one of the old style thermal fuses, which you can’t obtain now – only the new safety thermostat.
How easy is it to replace one with the other? Do instructions come with the replacement part? It looks like one end of the thermal fuse is wired into the terminal block on the rear panel, where the main supply comes in. However, the other end disappears up into the insulation… not sure how far!
Thanks,

Hi Dave,
There are photos here to show you what needs done:

If you’re not confined though it may be best to get one of the guys to do that for you.

Thanks K – I’d seen the photos, it’s just that they’re not very clear (one is only 56×56 pixels!).
My problem is that it’s not a straight swap from one thermostat to another, it’s swapping a thermal fuse to a thermostat. Further, my existing thermal fuse is mounted so that the bracket is horizontal, and the fuse runs through vertically. The two larger photos (“correct”/”wrong”) show the bracket pointing up or down, i.e. neither are like what I’ve got at present!
I guess I’m going to have to wait until the new part arrives and then see what’s in the fitting kit…

OK, it took time but wasn’t too bad in the end. Hardest bit was getting into the cooker in the first place. As described elsewhere, I had to take off the back panel behind the fan oven (yes, first making sure the cooker circuit was turned off of course!) to access the thermal fuse itself. I also had to remove the glass lid and the top plate (via the burner screws) to access the other end of the wire behind the clock. Then just a question of threading out the old wire & threading in the new one.
