Service engineers when on the road, crawling about under machines and fixing them see some sights.
Some are funny. Some are scary. Some send shivers down your spine. Some are repulsive.
Here we want to demonstrate the kinds of things that these unsung heroes have to put up with on built in ovens, cookers and hobs and while many of these may be more extreme in nature and have some humorous commentary attached, are the sorts of things the guys in the field see all the time…
Please if you have any you can send us email them to admin@ukwhitegoods.co.uk as we love to see them and will publish them anonymously if required.
Our hob is tripping the electrics after a new hotplate was fitted…

We think we see the problem here…
There’s a smell of burning and it trips the electrics…

Uhm… well sir…
The cooker stinks and doesn’t seem to work right…

Yes madam, your furry friends appear to have taken up residence in your cooker, that’ll be why. (From Dave Jones)
It’s not heating…

What, for a month!
My cooker stinks, you need to fix it…

You have to wonder how bad it is that the attending engineer makes a montage of one.
Yes, that is a cooker full of dead rodents.
Customer needs an exterminator, not a service technician.
The grill stinks when using it…

No kiddin’! It also ignites. But that’s because the grease is half an inch thick above the element.
It kept blowing the fuses…

Did you even look at the bl—y fuse, the fault’s kind of obvious!!!???
There again, a 13 Amp plug on a cooker that draws 20 Amp or more ain’t gonna end well is it?
I’ve checked the supply and it’s fine, fix it as it’s in warranty…

Top job with the self diagnostics there sir!
The supply is fine, no problems with that now fix in guarantee…

I’d love to call you a moron but customer skills training doesn’t allow me to!
No I wired up the terminal block correctly as per the instruction manual…

Sure you did…
It blows fuses and smells…

Yes dead rodents decomposing and cooking inside your cooker will do that sir…
My oven won’t stay lit…

Not in this condition it won’t!

This is what had to be removed from it. (They’re repairers, not cleaners!!!)
There’s a burning smell from my gas hob…

Oh look, burn marks we wonder what that might be…

Oh, that would be the stuff you spilled burning under the hob top then perhaps!
I get a strange smell when I use the cooker hood…
Uhm… I think we might have found the problem…
