ParticipantHi
Decided my Samsung RS21NCNS American style is too big for the kitchen and looking to replace with two freestanding units – one fridge, one freezer. We need larger than the normal undercounter variety, but feel that 1400-1500mm is as tall as we want to go.
Depth is quite important so the shallower the better, and would prefer narrower rather than wider – the aim being for the kitchen to look less crowded while giving us a fair amount of fridge and freezer room.
Went round the Currys type places yesterday and there doesn’t seem much on offer if you exclude the Beko and other dead cheap stuff. People seem to prefer fridge/freezers which I don’t want.
Found in the online shops a pair of Whirlpools at 1390 high and Zanussis at 1450 high that would do the job.
I like AEG and Bosch but can’t find anything in their ranges that size.Any advice where else to look would be appreciated.
ps I was assuming I’d just take my Samsung to the tip to get rid, though there’s nothing wrong with it. Is there a market for 2 year old Samsung Americans?

Hi
Hotpoint carry a 150cm range the RLA150 fridge and the RZA150 freezer which come in the usual white and silver as well. These and what you have already found is about it I`m afraid. 150cm tall machines is a bit of an in between size which is why there is not a lot made.
Depths on all will be circa 60cm, which is a fair bit narrower than the Samsung.
Maybe advertise your Samsung in your local rag at a price to encourage a quick sale 💡 .

Hi Don
Yes it’s a problem that what my wife decides on is never what there’s plenty of in the shops 🙂My local shop’s just rung and told me about a range by Liebherr in sub 1500 high, but they don’t seem at all common.
A quick look on here though shows Liebherr seem to be well respected.
Will have to add those to the mix though they’re not cheap.October 6, 2008 at 1:55 pm #264373don
