Hi I have one of these dishwashers. On the heating part of the cycle the dishwasher starts to kettle and makes boiling sounds.
I assume this means that the water is not moving through the heating element.
Question is does this make it a motor pump fault? are these prone to blockages or do they just give up the ghost.
Or should I be checking somewhere else first.

If you open the door quickly after the machine fills, you should see water spraying briefly.

just tried and it doesn’t spray. I have also tried it on the prewash cycle and it doesn’t spray then. I guess that means I am taking the pump off tomorrow. what is the best way of testing the pump?
I can take it off to check if it is jammed etc, but what about testing it? I can test the capasitor, but not sure how to test the motor. Can I connect it up to 240v using flying leads to check it?
Test meters are not a problem I fit commercial fire alarms and have most things, just don’t know anything about dishwasher motor pumps.

Circuit through the pump in ohms is acceptable – I would avoid taking off the motor if possible. The clamp rings are notoriously difficult to refit. Check for leakage from the pump seals; this is what usually kills the pump.
Future readers are advised that any of the above should only be carried out with the power disconnected.

Motors are prone to siezing up on these Indesit machines.
You can tell if it is siezed by trying to push the cooling vanes inside the motor with a screwdriver without removing the motor. If it is siezed then a replacement motor is the only option. ( Apart from a much better quality machine that is) 😉
