Hello – I’m a newbie to the board, so hope you don’t mind me asking for help straight off!

After many years our Bosch Wff1401 has died – not spinning – at all. OH has checked it out, and thinks it really is finished – it’s not just that the belt has slipped off.

The question is, what to replace it with? The children have flown the nest, though we still do the odd heavy load (duvets/curtains etc) – but its not getting the heavy-duty demands nowadays that it had previously. The ability to do a quick wash and/or half load could be good.

We like Bosch and are considering the WAE32464
Am also tempted by the Siemens WM12E44SGB which Hughes Direct are offering at a well-reduced £550, but which is still on the expensive side.

Value, efficiency and reliability more important that cheapness, at the end of the day. It doesn’t have to be super-quiet, as its in a utility room away from the main rooms.

Any help or advice really welcomed – and thank you for reading!

If it comes down to a new machine check the ISE range out designed by engineers and built to last.

Thanks for your help – it wasn’t fixable, so we went for a new machine – the link you gave above was a strong contender, but in the end we went for a (cheaper end!) Miele – 5 year guarantee, good write-ups as far as I can see, and hopefully should do the job for a few years! The Co-op offered a good price combined with rapid delivery (so the machine arrived less than 36 hours after ordering) and it’s down to business already!

    So -poor but clean 😀
