Participanthad our new ISE 5 for 2/3 weeks now.
about a week ago the missus said to me that there was a wet patch coming from underneath the machine (front left foot as u look at machine). had a quick glance and it was slightly damp, but i thought it was maybe caused by the condensation from the dryer being on. its happened 2 or 3 times since which got my suspisions up, and after id washed a load this arvo, there was definate puddle infront of the machine 😥
i dont know if im just being paranoid after ive been on alert for the last week, but the machine seems to of got noisier too. not a noisy drum rotation, more of a louder electrical/motor noise towards the end of the programme (4).
i’ll give our local supplier (db electrics, scun thorpe) a call on monday, but didnt know if the likes of kwatt, penguin etc may of heard of something similar?
very happy with machine apart from this minor blip. guess this will give an early test for the 5 year warranty!
regards

The leak and noise may or may not be related.
Best, as you say, to give your local supplier a call and get them out.
I would stop using the machine to be on the safe side as water and electrics aren’t the best mix.
There are many reasons to why it may be leaking.
I know of no issues in particular in regards to the ISE5.

A common cause of leaks on lots of different machines that appear on the floor at the bottom left are actually caused by leaks from the soap drawer due to very high water pressure.
I have not personally had any such problems with ISE machines but it may be worth checking your pressure and if need be turning it down a little. You need to hear a nice steady flow, not a loud gushing noise.
Any untoward noise should be investigated ASAP.

thanks for your replies…
jim – after what uve said, i would deffo suspect water pressure as a suspect for the leak. as soon as i set the programme going, the initial fill of water is really loud, however subsequent fills dont seem to be as loud :hmm: ive also occasionally heard that the machine takes on water even when the drum is rotating, but thats normal aint it?
how would i reduce the pressure of water supplying the machine? is it just a case of closing the valve a little that the inlet pipe attaches too?
thanks for any help…

You can reduce the water pressure at the tap quite easily. Secondary filling on these machines is quite normal – in fact the first fill is really just a basis for negotiations as the machine calculates the size of the load. All clever stuff.
Tablets in soap drawers can cause some leakage problems – only the Aeriel ones seem to dissolve instantly. Others do it more slowly and can cause a backing up of water in the drawer and consequent dribbles. Finally, ensure that the fabric conditioner dispenser is nice and clean and not gummed up in the syphon.

Forgot to mention that if you are in a soft water area you will need to reduce your normal detergent dosage to allow for the reduced water levels used in all modern machines.
I have a couple of customers with ISE machines in this very soft water area that use a maximum of one tablet and sometimes even half a tablet when washing lightly soiled clothes to prevent over soaping which can also cause water to come out of the soap drawer.

cheers jim.
not in soft water area, and i use powder.
just put the aforementioned load in, and its not the initial intake of water thats makin the noise. i select prog 4, press play, and then theres a kind of grindin/moanin (im useless at describing noise sounds!) noise fo 5/10 secs, then the (steady) intake of water begins. quiet as a mouse now tho.
are u experts aware that it should make some kind of noise when a programme is started?
thanx again

Pump runs for 20 odd seconds prior to the programme initiating.

OK. If the obvious hasn’t worked, give your seller a ring in the morning and get yourself booked in for a service call.
I’ve sold a lot of the 5 machines to date and leakage has not been an issue so far. First time for everything!

just completed a programme 4 wash with no leaks.
i did make some tweaks to the outlet pipe this morn after i noticed it was slightly damp. not the outlet pipe from the machine, the outlet pipe that the hose goes into.
so i’ll refrain from calling the engineer out at the mo and hope it was the outlet pipe responsible for the puddle. i suspect it was as these machines have no history of leakage!
i’ll keep ya posted if anything changes.

quick update…
a weeks worth of washing later and everything is ok. no puddles to report of, so it appears as tho the outlet pipe was to blame.
had the machine about a month now and would deffo recommend them.
