Ok, I have trawled back 20 pages and haven’t seen this come up yet, so here goes…

The dishwasher starts the cycle by emptying out, then sounds as though it puts water in, the door opens to let the detergent in, but then nothing. The arms don’t turn… Obviously the dishes aren’t being cleaned.
There are no fault codes flashing, the cycle finishes as normal, but with dirty dishes.
The thing that has me a little confused is that right before the end of the cycle it sounds as though the machine springs into life and I think maybe the bottom arm has turned, but that is all, definitely not the upper or middle arm.
No noise from the circ pump. I can hear what I think is the heater.
Instincts tell me PUMP, but having experience of field engineering I will not throw any parts or money at it without being 99.9{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} certain that a replacement pump will cure the problem.
Any suggestions for troubleshooting this issue would be greatly appreciated. Apologies for the long explanation…

if it has a grey and black “big askoll pump” sitting at the back left hand corner it is most likely faulty.
    plug out first before checking.

Askoll pump article HERE. If the later type pump is fitted, the start/run capacitor may have failed – listen for a very faint humming noise.

Yep, it is the ‘Askoll’ pump… Ran the dishwasher, meter on supply to the pump, power came on to the pump, lo and behold, pump didn’t run, voila (or viola as they say around here)!!!
90 quid to replace a pump which in my humble opinion was obviously never fit for purpose is not happening. Certainly after researching the dishwasher brand and model, I figure there will be something else which will break down on it not long after this…

    cheers.
