Zanussi dishwasher ZDS699ex displays fault AL6 part way through cycle – will not drain. I have checked & cleaned filters, outlet pipe is clear, trap in kitchen sink is clear, pipes & hoses appear clean and clear on visual inspection. The pump is running and some water can be heard going exiting outlet pipe, but on completion of cycle, dirty water is present in base of dishwasher, up to level of vent pipes mounted to heater element cover and main filter.

    Any ideas/suggestions appreciated!

    Thanks, Mark Heaton

Machine drains by running the circulation motor in reverse, a separate impellor on the shaft is supposed to drain the water. The impellor may be stripped or broken, in which case there is a replacement impellor kit available; or the motor may not be running at full speed in reverse. Surprisingly common problem, only solution is a new motor.

Remove cross bar in the back lower housing and withdraw motor to the rear to check impellors.

    Power off first…….

Thanks, I’ll try looking at that. I couldn’t see an easy way to get the motor out of the back. Do I need to invert the machine and remove the whole base?

Remove rear lower cover panel, there is a metal bar across the centre hole retained by two screws, remove them and the connector block and the motor will simply pull out the rear.
