Carbon brushes in the drive motor would be a good bet. Outline article HERE should give you an idea of what you’re looking for.

Re: miele premier novo washing machine fault.

hi.i took the old brushes out and they seemed ok,so i went and spoke to a retired miele engineer.he said there was nothing wrong with them and after explaining the problem he said he was 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure it was the electric board on the top front of the machine. the cost of this he says would be minimum £100 for the part. i am thinking if i buy this and fit it and it still doesnt work then i am just throwing money away. the other option would be to get miele to come and do it but thats £100 for one hours labour plus parts.should i just bite the bullet and buy a new machine for £560,save myself a minimum of £200 to repair it and sell it on ebay for probabaly £150. with a new one at least you get a five year guarantee.what would you do ? hope this helps and not depresses you too much. cheers

Hint – remove PCB from casing and look at the back for dry joints, especially where the relays jon on. If you can wield a soldering iron, you can fix it.

Theres a thermal overload built in to the motor, may be a good idea to check if its open circuit, whats the fault that comes up on the machine?

Rinse light flashing denotes no motor action, or no feedback from tacho.

Hi guys, I also have this problem in conjunction with a noisy ticking sound coming from the motor. Does it sound like the carbon brushes are at fault here?

Re: miele premier novo washing machine fault.

Ticking noise will be a brush bouncing on a raised segment on the commutator in the middle of the motor – new motor time.

Re: miele premier novo washing machine fault.

    Thanks for the reply Penguin.

On further inspection I have discovered that the carbon brushes have worn right down, one has about 5mm remaining and the other has about 8mm remaining. I guess it’s a miracle the motor was working at all! I have checked the commutator for any raised segments and haven’t found any, luckily. For reference, the motor is a MRT 32 -606/2 and I’m pretty sure the part number for the pair of brushes is Miele 4287411. Are they easy to get hold of and what are they likely to cost please? The model of the machine is W842.

Part No is 4297411 and they sell out at £22.50+vat + P&P. Any Miele service agent should have them in stock

Re: miele premier novo washing machine fault.

I also have a similar fault with my Premier 300 in that when I put a large wash in the machine it does not seem to drain properly, this causes the spin not to reach full speed. I can see and hear the drum touching the water below it.
If I drain the water down by loosening the filter and letting it run into a tray it comes up to full spin speed.
I have taken the pipe from below the drum off and cleaned it, cleaned the outlet pipe and filter and even cleaned the drain which has improved the situation but it still is not like when new.
I have cheched the drain pump and it spins fast and free.
Inside the machine I have noticed a large plastic moulding connected to the drain pipe with the outlet pipe connected at the top. I can’t see the purpose of this moulding its almost like there is a lot of water held in it or a one way valve that is jammed open so allowing water to run back out of it.
Can anyone advise me what to check next as I hate to just change parts without diagnosing the fault after all it is a Miele and seems to be well engineered so more than likely its something simple.
