ParticipantHi to all
We have a Belling IDW603 dishwasher, that has started playing up, we have not changed salt or detergent or even quantity of pots being washed, basically we are left with dishes covered in white powder (salty to taste).I have tried the obvious:-
Checked salt level – ok
Checked rinse agent level – ok
Filled all of the above.
Ran two cleaner through.
Tried with dishes and without
Tried with and without detergentBut i am still left with salty deposits
I can only assume it is something to do with the water softener, and it is posably not shutting off ???
Any help gratefully received
Many thanks

I’m no expert on this but recently I had to fit a new heater to my dishwasher. When it was upsidedown I noticed the salt container has another container fixed to it with a brown substance inside. I was curious as to what this was (it looked like it needed cleaning out) so I asked the guy in the shop where I bought my heater from and it turns out they’re crystals which react with the salt to soften the water. He said they usually last for 7 years or so and then need to be replaced but obviously that depends upon how much use it gets. How old is your dishwasher? I have no idea if this is your problem but given everything you’ve alreday done it’s a thought.

Participantit could be the regeneration chamber
rightly so, it is filled with resin filters, to remove calcium from the water, the salt is used to clean the resin filters of calcium
if its gettin into the wash, the youll need a regeneration chamber
not a nice job either

Hi thanks for the replies, the dishwasher is around 5 years old, so you could be right.
Any idea on how mush a regeneration filter would be, or a part number, I don’t suppose the resin filters can be changed, would it have to be a complete unit?
Once again, many thanks for the replies

On mine the two are combined in one unit and it’s quite easy to change it. I removed mine to gain better access to the heater.
