Dishwasher too many years old to remember exactly, not had a problem until this week.

    1. Tue approx. 9pm RCD tripped. Could not repeat ‘trip’ by turning anything on in the house. RCD stayed on so left it.

    2. Wed 8.30pm approx. loaded dishwasher, turned dial to 50deg/eco wash, started. Ran for part of the pre-wash then RCD tripped. Again went round house to repeat ‘trip’ only way was dishwasher on at plug & dial ‘on’. Unplugged and left….

    3. Thur after work, having read forums, tried to understand the location of the fault. Drained all remaining water in machine, removed front panel to see that the dial is part of a PCB. No obvious problems – all connections good, no burn marks. Put back and tried to run machine and it worked fine!

    4. Have completed 2 futher washes since.

    5. Sun 8.30am, electrics tripped again.

Anyone got any advice what is happeneing here and how to/worth fix?

    many thanks in advance,

Problem probably lies in the bottom of the machine. Water leakage into the tray at the bottom can cause shorts; component breakdown (mains suppressor, heater, motor typically) will also trip the breaker.

You’ll need to get in there and have a look.

    Stay safe, power off first.

    Re: ADP 5966 trips electric

    Update:

    1. Removed base cover (evidence of salt being left to evaporate and a dent), inspected all electrical connections nothing loose, ‘burnt’ or corroded.

    2. During connections inspection, I knocked a black circular pressure (?) switch that contains a white disc (float?) that also seems to be a pressure switch. Black part was actually broken and aligns with dent in base cover.

    3. Applied electrical tap to mend black circle holding the white disc securely. Attempted to rectify the dent.

    4. Put back together.

    5. Powered up and turned dial. All lights working correctly, no trip of RCD.

    6. Run 2 empty and 1 full washes, still ok and I keep turning the dial whenever I get the chance, still ok – dishwasher still in the middle of kitchen.

Is it possible I have fixed the problem?
As you can tell I have no idea what the black circle switch is actually….
I am quite prepared to dig out multi meter and check electrical parts if its recommended.

    thanks,

    This may help:

Sounds like the flood protection switch to me.

    Re: ADP 5966 trips electric

Thanks very much for the photo – thats really helpful!

Machine tripped again on Sun 6pm. Called local repair company on Monday morning and they where very good and looked at machine Monday pm.

    Johns verdict:
Multi-meter check of all parts, found nothing. Pump working OK.
Ran machine (reset etc.) to then get F6 code.
Trialed and confirmed flow meter is issue – part of a large ‘tank’ on LHS of machine.
New part now ordered, John will be back to fit on Fri pm.

    thanks again,
