Does anyone know what the duty cycle (on/off) should be to maintain +5 fridge and -23 freezer.

My reason for asking is the appliance failed during the summer because the lower fan was dirty, ran slow for sometime, then stopped. The compressor obviously ran hot and finally cut-out. After a good cleaning and checking the operation, it now runs to temperature OK, but my concern is it appears to be running a long duty cycle more ‘on’ than ‘off’.

It is likely it needs re-gassing and if so how do I find what refrigerant is used? (I could re-gas, but don’t have the tools to evacuate if the gas is not compatible with R134a).

    Or is the compressor knackered?

    Thanks.

well, u could look at the label on the compressor

or the label on the inside of the fridge, normally behind one of the salad bins

its more likely to be r134a, and the amount (in gms ) will be printed on the rating plate

oh, and if it runs to temperature ok, its unlikely to be a system problem, u may just be more paranoid

why mess if it isnt actually faulty?
