    ASKO 20004 washing machine

Please help me with an unknown error – the drum will not spin, but the machine powers up and sounds like the pump works and the self diagnostic reports that everything is fine. I have had British Gas come out twice – the second time with a very rare (£700!) spare power PCB board, new motor and drivebelt – but none of these were the problem. Any ideas before I have to admit defeat?

Thank you very much for any advice.

    Paul. 😕

does the drum turn on wash ? if it doesnt turn at all i would say that its more than likely a wiring problem.

PCB drives the motor. I’d be checking the loom between the two for continuity.

    Power off, first……

Thank you for replying SMartin & Penguin45. The British Gas woman did not think wiring was broken, but if it is, how can I test the loom wiring and where can I get a replacement, if that is indeed the problem? (I believe SMEG bought ASKO if that helps??) Thanks.

You will need a test meter. Identify the ends of the loom at the motor and pcb and disconnect. Test each wire one by one to each end and ensure that you have a nice low resistance reading on every one.

I believe that spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk should be able to source a replacement if required.

Paul, can you give us the correct model number which will be on the rating plate, it will start with: WM (eg: wm100) the rating plate will either be behind the cover panel over the filter or above the inner door (get down on your knees to read it) AFAIK a 20004 does not have a module!

Thank you: WM200, serial number: 9420-039119

sorry for the delay in replying…. no easy answer to that one, assuming the parts replaced have been fitted correctly. Some of these have a door release relay that give it the delay before the door is allowed to open. I do not have a wiring diagram (there should be one inside your machine assuming the other engineers have not taken it) to see it that could affect the motor action. This part is not on the door lock, its mounted on top of the drum along with the pressure swtich and relay. Sorry cannot be much more help.
