Hello, My hotpoint BF168 built in dishwasher has developed a fault. Can anyone assist? The unit fails to wash and the rinse light continually flashes. if I isolate the unit and then reapply power, the wash light stays solid but after closing the door, the cylce begins for approx 15 secs then the fault light re-asserts itself. your help would be greatly appriciated.

Can you give us the flashing light by number from left.

Sorry, it’s the 4th light from the left. the one which lights to select a soaking pre-wash in the manual. ( I have downloaded the manual but it fails to give fault codes)

If your machine has a row of 6 or 7 lights and light 4 is flashing then it suggests you have a flooded base.

You will have to drag it out, then place some towels on the floor. tilt the machine to one side and you are likely to see water running out. If it does then try the machine again. If it fails in the same way very quickly then you have a leak into the base that needs investigating.

It can also be caused by oversoaping due to using 3 in 1, 4 in 1 or 5 in 1 tablets.

Plug out at all times if you decided to open it up.

    Jim.
