Participantmy cda dishwasher (CW497) is not working.
It is not flashing any error codes and will start normally. However I don’t thnik it is filling properly (although there is definitely some water going in) as it is not cleaning the dishes and the powder block is not dissolving. It is hot at the end of the cycle but nothing is clean!
I have removed and cleaned any obvious parts – filter, spray arms – and I have tried it on several cycles including rinse but all the same result.Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Are you sure the wash pump is working properly?
Also check where the feed pipe (runs up the rear) for the upper spray arms connects just behind the lower spray arm, the clips can fail.November 4, 2008 at 12:32 am #267307Penguin45

Up-pipes detatching is possible, so, unfortunately is THIS.

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply!
I have checked out the spray arms and connectors and everything seems fine.
I don’t know how to check the pump. I can hear it and it doesn’t sound weird but I don’t really know what else to look for.Is there any chance it could be a pipe blockage do you think?
I have an agreement with British Gas where I have cover for pipework so maybe it would be worth calling them out to check for blockages before I have to bite the bullet and call an engineer to repair the dishwasher. What do you think?November 4, 2008 at 7:33 pm #267309Penguin45

Set it off on the rinse cycle, wait until the circulation pump has been running for a minute or two, then pop the door – you should see water spraying briefly from the rotors. If you don’t, there is a problem with the pump.
Use the repairs@ link to find a UKWhitegoods engineer in your area.

Thanks Penguin45.
I have done as you said and spied on my dishwasher in action. Unfotunately nothing was going on. No spinning, no spraying, no activity at all with the rotors, just the washer filling with water.Sounds like my pump is seriously ill. I’ll call an engineer tomorrow.
Thanks again for your help.
