Universal ones are usually OK. Unlike some machines, Hoover & Zanussi to name two, the electronics on your machine are not as susceptible to damage from pump failures, should be fine.

is the watts just the power it generates then? how come some makes are fine and others are not out of interest?

On some machines a burnt out/ seized pump will just take out the mains fuse or circuit breaker, on others it will seriously damage the main control module, some are better protected than others. some have PCB’s that are more prone to failure.

The control unit on your machine is a hybrid unit, part mechanical, part electronic. Fairly robust unless the door lock or motor goes down to earth then it will also suffer from blown tracks etc. Cannot ever remember a drain pump failure damaging the control unit on one.

The current Indesit made Hotpoint machines have some of the most unreliable electronics on the market at the moment, if the wind changes they can fail. 😥

The wattage will relate to consumption not output.
