Participanthi i have a Blomberg GN 1951 FF fridge freezer.
my problem is it always seems to be on, instead of turning itself on and off. my cucumber was frozen the other day lol
there’s ice forming on the top 2/3rds on the back wall inside the fridge and ice forming on the outside around the pipes coming from the compressor. the dial inside doesn’t seem to make a difference I’ve had it at 1, 9 and half way at about 5. the room temp is quit low, could that be the cause?
is the thermostat my problem? if so is it an easy diy job or do i need to get someone in to fix it?
thanks

Participantim sure that model hasnt got a thermostat, but a pcb…but with the way your describing your problem i suspect its more likely to be a statem problem
they were quite prone to corroding on the inlet pipe to the concealed evaprator, they lose gas, and run erattically
if you open the door and press firmly on the back wall , where the ice is, does it flex a little, or is it firm?
how old is it?November 4, 2008 at 8:56 pm #267430tazb

Participantits a write off, the gas system is faulty, its leaking internally, and cant be repaired, im afraid

that’ll be why there’s ice coming out some very small holes on the back outside lol
is it dangerous to keep using it till it dies?
thanks for the help

Hi
The fault wont be a gas leak it will more likely be the liner has become unbonded from the evaperator which then causes an air pocket between the plastic and the evaperator.
This is why it wont keep the fridge to the correct temprature due to it having this air gap stiopping the cold from coming through fully into the fridge.

but the cold is coming through to the fridge, its freezing the water on the back wall and my cucumber and mushrooms. i’m guessing its doing that because its not turning on and off.
why’s it not turning on and off?
thanks

Hi
Because the thermostat becomes deattached from the evaperator at the same time.

ah so this air gap is because its old? and a new thermostat would be pointless?
time to send my fridge to the graveyard?
