ParticipantHi – I’m sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, I had a fairly thorough search and couldn’t come up with anything.
We bought our house in January and the previous owner left us the Frigidaire “Larder Elite”. It’s been running fine (apart from making creaky squeaky noises from time to time, but I assume that’s just the self-defrost) but we’ve noticed that the door seal does not join the main body of the fridge all the way round, that it’s coming away in the top corner away from the hinge.
The plate in the fridge says:
Type: HS2966
Model: RLE1099A
Art No.: 665705
Ser. No.: 34630092Is it possible to get a replacement door seal for it? I’m a bike mechanic by profession so I’m certainly not averse to taking things apart and fixing stuff (and yes I’ll _always_ unplug electrical stuff before I do!) but a quick Internet search hasn’t come up with any useful information.
If it’s not fixed, will it mean a slow death for the fridge (or even a quick one)? I assume it basically means cold air can leak out, warm air gets in and the fridge becomes less efficient, has to work harder and our food will go off quicker.
I’d appreciate any advice you could offer.
Thanks,
: P

Hi
If the seal is not sealing on the top left as you look at the fridge (the oposite side of the hinges).
This is normally caused by the appliance not being on a level / solid floor which has caused the cabinet to twist.if you push one of the corners you will normally see the seal come back into possition.
You can also help the situation by adding a couple of washers on the bottom hinge at the same time as leveling it.The bottom hinge is held on with 2 nuts & bolts accessible when the bottom cover is removed by the 2 self tapping screws.
