ParticipantHi,
I have an older 600mm single oven range. I think the thermostat has gone (oven just gets hotter).
Can you let me know a) what part I need please, but more importantly, b)how do I get access to replace it ?
Probe is clipped to the back of the grill/upper oven element, wire through roof of oven then curly wire to back of the oven dial. I’ve removed knobs and every screw and nut that I can see but can’t get access to the back of the front control panel – do you know how to do this ?
Model is 2014 d SB – around 1991.Many thanks

Thanks Bryan – I thought it might be this part but my model no. wasn’t listed – too old ?
Any experience of dismantling these babies – as I said – there must be a knack because I’ve removed every visible screw, front and rear, and there doesn’t seem to be a way to get at the control – I’m hoping I don’t have to cut off any pop rivets !
Many thanks
Andy

Hi Andy
Unscrew all the screws on the hob top and there will be a couple on the side and it will lift off.

Hi Bryan,
Can’t even find a picture of this model to show you, but trust me – if there were any more removable screws or bolts, I’d have found them. The hob plate is a kind of “tanked” design with no screws in it at all. It has one electric hotplate and 3 gas burners, it was mostly available as a 1200mm unit with one extra large gas burner/griddle, but I have the 600mm unit.
Cheers.

Hi Bryan,
Finally got the hob off (don’t ask), I’ve removed the thermostat from the back of the oven switch and the thermocouple out of the oven. Any way of testing this now ? Should I get no current when I heat the thermocpouple up.
Cheers
Andy

Hi Andy
No real way of testing it but the thermostat failure is the only thing that would make the oven temprature uncontrolable.
