Whilst cleaning my condenser unit out I noticed that the drum housing had cracked, leading to a small amount of leakage (dripping onto the end of the motor casing and then the plastic sheet at the bottom of the unit).

I cleaned off the rubbish to find a crack about two inches long. It’s close to where the electrical connections to the heater element and thermostat are at the bottom of the housing.

I chose to repair this with an application of this http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/ambersil-oven-door-glass-hinge-heat-resistant-glue stuff, which I had in from a previous repair. Hopefully this will seal ok, although if the crack grows it will need more I guess.

Any idea what the cause might have been or if my repair will hold..?

if you leave coins in pockets they will get under the drum and crack the outer tub usually to the right of the heating element. it is very difficult to permanently repair because of the hot soapy water.
