    I have recently purchased a Whirlpool 25RID4 American F/F

My issue appears to be the amount of ‘work’ that the compressor is doing. Obviously after intial power up, it took about four hours to get down to temp. I wasnt too woried about this at first. However after leaving the unit running over the weekend, I have noticed if any of the doors are opened for say a minute, which is normal, it can take over two hours for the unit to come back down to temperature.

If the unit doors are closed, the unit runs on a cycle of about 15-20 mins off, 45-60 mins on. If you open the doors for a short period, the unit run could be up to two hours. I have put a temp key in the fridge and freezer, both read -18 and +3 degC which is what the unit is set too.

The compressor runs hot, the discharge to the condenser is about 50-55 degC, returing from the condenser at 35degC. The suction going to the fridge from the compressor is about 27-31degC. After a prolonged period of time the top of the compressor casing can get to 55-65degC. The compressor runs on R134a charged to 0.16kg according to the label. The compressor also appears noisy, certainly not as quiet as my previous R600a Danfoss comp.

    My questions are :-

Is this compressor work rate normal
Is the unit short of gas, or is the compressor not pumping as it should
Is this normal, i hate to think how many kwHrs the units using, the brochure says 624kwHrs/yr.

    Unit code 8586 422 15001

Speaking to Whirlpool Service, they are prepared to visit, but if no fault found, its a £50 charge!!!!!

    I appreciate any feedback forthcoming.

    Thank you.
